We have a happy band of volunteer litter pickers in the Cherry area, who have been keeping the streets and the bigger area clear of rubbish over the last couple of years.
Volunteers are provided with equipment and training so that they can do as much or as little as they wish. The vision is to go for a little exercise and pick as they go – it’s a walk with a purpose and very fulfilling! There are currently over a dozen pickers who choose where they want to go, and also communicate within the group over ‘whatsapp’ to give others information about what they might have found, or to organise specific days when they join up as a group to go and blitz an area – the bottom road to Lincoln has been a favourite while it has been closed due to bypass construction. This has been particularly important during recent times when the pandemic discouraged larger groups.
If you might like to join in either on individual litter picking days or become a more regular volunteer we would be very pleased to hear from you!
Best wishes and please don’t litter!
