Witham Valley access group

This is an action group, set up by residents from Cherry Willingham, Reepham and Fiskerton, to promote safe cycling and walking routes in the local area.

The Project’s initial priorities were identified as providing:

  • Access to the River Witham, the Viking Way and the Water Rail Way for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
  • A footpath/cycle route to Greetwell Church
  • A footpath/cycle route to Fiskerton Village
  • A footpath/cycle route from Green Lane to Hawthorn Avenue.

Since 2016, members of the Action Group have primarily concentrated their efforts on supporting the Parish Council with its development of Cherry Fields.  The latter has provided the much-wanted access to the River Witham and the Viking Way, as well as opportunities for safe cycling and walking within the Fields themselves.  Many members are part of the small “army” of regular volunteers who are helping to develop and maintain the Fields and several also serve on the Cherry Fields Management Group.

The group continues to keep an eye on local planning applications and comments on applications that affect local footpaths and bridleways.

For more information about the group and its aims, please make contact via the Parish Council clerk who will forward your details to the group’s secretary.
