Allotments Sub-Committee Minutes May 2024

Present: Cllr A Burge, Cllr Mrs Burge, Cllr C Hughes, Cllr B Robinson, and Mrs D Townsend

 

  1. To appoint a minute taker.

RESOLVED unanimously to appoint the Clerk.

 

  1. To note and record apologies and absences.

None

 

  1. To record declarations of interest by any member of the council in respect of the agenda items listed below. Members declaring interests should identify the agenda item and type of interest being declared To note dispensations given to any member of the council in respect of the agenda items listed below.

Cllr C Hughes & Mrs D Towsend are allotment holders

 

  1. To resolve to sign the minutes from the allotment meeting from the 26th February 2024 as a true record.

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the minutes from the  26th February 2024 as a true record.

 

  1. To discuss insurance with the tenancy of allotment holders and approve any necessary actions.

It was discussed CWPC can only recommend joining the Allotment Association or have there own public liability insurance, this unfortunately can not be enforced

 

  1. To receive a report on any vacant or unkept plots, and approve any action required.

RESOLVED unanimously for the Clerk to write to Plots 8,9 23, 31, 34 with a reminder on compliance with cultivation rules within the tenancy. 

 

  1. To receive a report on plots that have become available and any vacancies.

Currently one vacant plot, plot 30 is to be allocated by the Clerk

 

  1. To receive an update and resolve any actions in relation to the allotment association.

    1. To discuss and resolve work to commence on the single track.

The allotment Association have been successful in a grant application and been rewarded with £2500. This is to create a hard standing track for allotment holders to be able to drive down to their plots and offload.

RESOLVED unanimously for the Allotment Association to go ahead and start this project. The Allotment Association is to manage the installation of the track but CWPC are very happy to help where required.

  1. To discuss and resolve contacting Highways for signage regarding vehicles turning

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the Allotment Association to contact Highways with this matter.

    1. Noticeboard 

This project is still in progress and is being managed by the allotment association.

  1. Allotment Entrance

This project is now complete and CWPC are very happy with the end result and also the feedback from the allotment holders has been very positive.

  1. Locks

Cllr B Robinson has now purchased the new locks.

 

  1. Matters for report and future agenda items.

Nothing at this time.

 

  1. To confirm a date for the next meeting.
