Village Improvements Committee held on Thursday 6th March 2025 at 10:00 in the Millennium Hall.

To receive any declarations of interest in accordance with the Localism Act 2011 and consider any requests for dispensations in relation to Disclosable Pecuniary Interests or other interests as outlined in the Council’s Code of Conduct.

To receive notes of the Village Improvement Committee Meeting held on Thursday 9th January 2025 and approve as minutes.
RESOLVED unanimously to approve the Village Improvement Committee Minutes from Thursday 9th January 2025 as a true record.

To approve the purchase of a new Christmas Flag for 2025.
RESOLVED unanimously to spend upto £50 on a Christmas flag.

To discuss and approve any necessary actions in relation to the hall hire to outside bodies.
RESOLVED unanimously to hire the Hall out on a Wednesday and a Friday when the Clerk is either working on their own or when the office is closed. The U3A Storytelling group can continue to hire the Hall on a Tuesday afternoon.

To discuss and approve any necessary action in relation to replanting of the planters.
RESOLVED unanimously to approve spending upto £100 on new plants for the planters at the Parade.

To discuss and resolve any necessary action relating to the state of the grass verges within the village.
RESOLVED unanimously that CWPC will attend to the most dangerous grass verges and fill and re grass seed as a one off. The Clerk to draft a letter to be posted through the doors of those most affected.

Memorial Gates.
Completed.There is some original timber left over from the refurbishment of the Memorial, it was felt if there was to be a new memorial in the future at the Parade it would be nice to incorporate.

Noticeboard.
RESOLVED unanimously to purchase a recycled plastic noticeboard as its low maintenance must have a magnetic backing.

Security Camera.
This is due to be fitted within the next week by a contractor.

Resilience Policy - Sand & Sandbags
RESOLVED unanimously to spend upto £300. For 2 ton of sharp sand and 150 hessian sand bags

Gilbert's pond update.
The first lot of work has been carried out on Gilbert Pond. A management plan has been provided for annual work to be carried out, It is the Great Crested Newt session from March - July. Work will commence in the Autumn for two more days.

Speed watch. (Cllr Bates)
Two sessions have been carried out this week. There will be an increase in the amount of Speed Watch sessions over the next few months.

Litter picking. (Cllr Fleetwood)
Village is continuing to be tidy and the litter pickers are continuously working

Notice Boards, Map
RESOLVED unanimously for Cllr B Robinson to scan and modify existing office street maps.

To receive a report from the Allotment Sub-committee.
Monday's meeting was the second meeting in a year, meetings aren't required now they are established.
It has been approved to help the allotment by installing some drainage at the allotments to assist with the flooding issues.
RESOLVED unanimously to spend upto £1000 on the installation of drainage..
RESOLVED unanimously to spend up to £200 leveling the track that was installed with the Allotment Association as it has sunken..

To consider merging the Allotment Sub- committee with the Village Improvements Committee
RESOLVED unanimously as of May all allotment matters become the responsibility of the Village Improvement Committee.

Nothing new to report at this time.

To record and resolve any maintenance issues with regard to VIC assets.
Croft Lane Bench, scheduled installation today.
