Future events
-
Fun Dog Show 7/6/25 (Cllr Bates). Discuss poster to go on Facebook etc. Resolved to use same background as the Gala poster in order to make the appeal for stalls and sponsors stand out more. Remove ‘best trick’ from list of classes and replace with ‘scruffiest dog’. This should be a working document which can be amended when sponsors/advertisers join us. Suggest that the programme should be free so that everyone is given one – advertisers could have inserts put in these. Does anybody in the village do cakes for cake stall? Cllr. Pitchford to revise the poster with the Clerk with a view to getting it out asap. Cllr. Burge is able to put it on other local sites.
-
Gala 2/8/25 (Cllr. Pitchford). As above, discussed poster to go on Facebook etc. Approved, but with a couple of amendments, add ‘Laburnum Playing Field’ and amend spelling of ‘Daisy Made’. Cllr. Pitchford reported that the Co-Op were bringing their health tent, but there has been a lack of communication from the YMCA with regards to their climbing wall. The Bowls Club are to open up to give taster, but are to be asked not to provide refreshments because of stall holders who have paid to be there. Written invitations to all the schools but no response as yet. As above Cllr. Pitchford to revise poster with the Clerk. As the Produce Show is to be part of the Gala this year a discussion was held about categories. At present, the following categories were agreed: Rhubarb, Tomatoes, Beetroot, Potatoes, Wonky vegetable, Jams, Scones and Savoury quiche. Cllr. Burge to contact the Allotment to ask what they would see as categories given the date of the Gala. The Oasis also to be contacted. Cllr. Bates to contact local antique valuers to see if they would be able to do valuations.
-
Other events. Survey Monkey now ready to go on Facebook with a page of questions about what events residents would like to be organised. Christmas lights, Need to ask Cllr. B Robinson about suppliers for replacement lights.
