Meeting of Cherry Willingham Parish Council’s 

Leisure and Amenities Committee 

held on Monday 27th June 2023 at 7.00pm at the Millennium Hall

 

Present: Cllrs Traheran (Chair), Angela Burge (Vice-Chair), Cllr Brylewski, Cllr Houghton, Cllr Mellor, Cllr Bucke.

Meeting started at 7pm.

 

No members of the public were present



 

  1. Apologies, welcomes and attendance, including accepting apologies and reasons for their absence were given.

RESOLVED unanimously to accept Cllr J Robinsons apologies

 

  1. Declarations of interest. To record declarations of interest by any member of the council in respect of the agenda items listed below.

To note dispensations given  to any member of the council in respect of the agenda items listed below.

NONE

 

  1. To receive the minutes of the L & A Committee meeting held on the 22nd May 2023 and agree for them to be signed as a true record.

RESOLVED unanimously to accept the minutes from the meeting of the 22nd May 2023 as a true record.

 

  1. To review and accept the proposed Playground Risk Management Policy.

RESOLVED unanimously to accept the policy, two small amendments noted.

 

  1. To report on the burial ground visit. And to approve any action if necessary.

RESOLVED unanimously not to pursue any further with regards to asking individuals to remove items from the grave (example solar lights). It was noted that maybe despite the policy being updated very recently, maybe it should be reviewed to bring into modern times. Cllrs have volunteered to do regular visits every quarter to have a tidy of any old items that may need disposing of.

 

  1. To review the list of trees that are CWPC and arrange tree inspections if necessary .

RESOLVED unanimously that this needs to to be reviewed, Cllr J Trahearn has took the tree register and is going to distribute between the L & A members to carry out before the next meeting. Cllr J Trahearn & Cllr P Buck - Lady Meers Pond, Cllr Mrs Burge - The Parade, Cllr K Mellor & Cllr V Houghton - Minster Drive, and Cllr S Brylewski - The Burial Ground, Cherry Fields are responsible for their area and allotment sub-committee for Tanfaine.

 

  1. To review the asset register.

Received - no changes made.

 

 

St Pauls & Laburnum

 

  1. Matters relating to Laburnum Drive Playing Field & St Pauls play area.


 

  1. To receive a report of any play inspections and maintenance work undertaken since the last meeting and agree to any further action as necessary.

RESOLVED unanimously that no further action is required, after receiving the annual inspection.

 

  1. To consider a report from Cllr Brylewski for a lower level basketball hoop at St Pauls Park.

RESOLVED unanimously that is not viable due to safety and vandalism concerns.

 

  1. To discuss the grass cutting in the play areas and the frequency.

RESOLVED unanimously to make contact with the current contractor and ask if it's possible to cut a little shorter at the park areas to hopefully last a little longer between cuts.

 

  1. Items in progress: to consider and agree to any actions as appropriate.

 

  1. To receive an update on  the Cricket Club, and the new nets.

Note that we have received the money through from the ECB and we are waiting on a delivery and installation date from the supplier

.

  1. To receive an update on the mound at St Pauls.

Note more soil has been transported to the site with more to go down there the first week of July. The next stage is to have a contractor come and review our designs at the location.

 

  1. To review the asset register and approve, as necessary, missing assets to be added to list.
