  1. To receive notes of the Village Improvement Committee Meeting held on Thursday 07th March 2024 and approve as minutes.

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the minutes from Thursday 07th March 2024 as a true record.

 

  1. To discuss the request from a resident requesting a new bin to be placed at the Parade where the new picnic benches have been placed and approve any necessary action.

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the purchase of two bins for the new picnic area at The Parade. The quotes to be obtained to take to the next Full Council Meeting.

  1. To discuss and approve the purchase of the Christmas Tree for 2024.

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the purchase of this year's Christmas Tree for the sum of upto £500..

 

  1. To discuss and approve the purchase of Christmas Lights.

DEFERRED until the next VIC meeting. A check of what the council already has and how many strips of lights we are short need to be checked before a decision can be made.

  1. To discuss and approve the purchase of a tripod for the PA system.

RESOLVED unanimously to purchase a tripod for the sum of upto £100.

  1. To approve the purchase of a replacement speed gun.

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the purchase of a new Speed Gun & Vests for the sum of upto £400. The previous gun stopped working after 5 years.

  1. Items in progress: to consider and agree any actions as appropriate:

 

  1. To receive an update, the bench on the High Street.

The bench has been cleaned and restored. The grass is now starting to establish itself. awaiting for the bench to be fixed back into the location,

  1. Path from Gilberts Pond to the Burial Ground

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the path to be constructed for upto the sum of £1000,00 the path will be roughly 1.2metres wide by 45 metres in length.

  1. Storage Options

1 for and 3 against renting a garage from a resident,

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the purchase of a container from Container PRojects for a new container for the sum of £2750.00 and £1250.00 to construct a base for the storage container.

  1. Resilience Policy

Cllr K Mellor and the Clerk have a date in the diary to update the policy, this will be brought back to the VIC committee once the new draft has been completed.

  1. Outdoor Gym

The work will commence and complete between the 13th May & 14th May.

Still awaiting a response from the RFO to chase.

  1. Dog bin at Little Cherry.

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the purchase of a new dog waste bin for the sum of upto £200. The Clerk to contact the resident that made the request to discuss the new location at Little Cherry.

  1. Gilbert's pond update.

THe Clerk & RFO to chase for the update as we are led to believe DNA test was carried out in April, no correspondence has been received.

  1. Speed watch. (Cllr Bates)

There have been 9 new speedwatch volunteers appointed and trained. Hawthorn Road new speed limit has been implemented from 40-30 mph which came into effect as of the 29th April 24. There have been 457 speedwatch sessions to date. 80,599 vehicles have been counted  and 2187 have been reported to date.

  1. Litter picking. (Cllr Fleetwood)

There have been 3 new litter pickers appointed. A litter picking day on a Sunday is going to be arranged for the community to join in.

  1. Notice Boards.

It has been suggested that terms and conditions need to be drafted for the use of the new community notice board.  Cllr M Palmer also suggested a map to be costed recommending something similar to the one Welton have.

Cllr B Robinson & Cllr A Burge to still complete converting the notice boards to a magnetic backing system.

  1. Roy Bowser Sign

This has now been installed and completed

 

  1. To receive a report from the Allotment Sub-committee.

The next Allotment meeting is being held on Monday the 13th May 24. The Allotment association would like permission to start work on the centre track allowing the allotment holders access with vehicles following a successful grant application they have been awarded

 

  1. To receive a report from Tanfaine.

The Clerk has now written a warning to the horse grazing tenants in regards to the safety of the horses and keeping them contained

 

  1. To receive a report from the Fundraising Group.

To note thanks and gratitude to Vippies for their £250 sponsorship. For anyone having a stall at the Fun Dog Show they are contributing £10 per stall and a raffle prize.

  1. To approve the hire purchase of a portaloo for the ‘Fun Dog Show’.

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the quote for the sum of £200 from ML Plant Toilet Hire

  1. To record and resolve any maintenance issues with regard to VIC assets.
