Parish Council Grant

GUIDELINES FOR GRANT APPLICANTS

A grant of up to £250 open to groups in Cherry Willingham.

 This grant is open to all but must fit into the following criteria:

  • It must benefit village residents and, to be accepted, you need to demonstrate that it is for a specific purpose, which will provide additional activity.

The general principles we are operating on are as follows:

  • The Council will set an annual budget for grant-making purposes.
  • The Council will make small grants to community and voluntary organisation to support activities which directly benefit residents of the Parish of Cherry Willingham.
  • The maximum sum available per grant will generally be £250 in order to maximise the benefits.
  • No group will generally be permitted to make two applications in any one Council year.
  • Decisions will be made by the full Council.
  • The Council will ensure that a variety of organisations receive grants over several years and that no group receives a disproportionate share of the available funds.

Processing Applications:

1. All applications must be addressed to the Clerk at the Millennium Hall, and not to individual councillors or the Chairman.

2. The Clerk will ensure that applicants understand the information the Council will require to determine an application.

3. In processing applications the Council will:-

  • meet its legal requirement to deal them with competently;
  • establish the exact purpose of any grant and that it is a proven need and not just a general request for money;
  • ensure that it has the power to make the payment, or are able to use their Section 137 allocation, having ascertained that the project benefits all or some of the community;
  • require that anyone who receives a grant must update the council in writing, within 12 months, showing exactly what they have done with any grant;
